Alfredo T. Avalos "El Chavalon"

Alfredo was a 70 year resident of Porterville area.  He was born in Chavinda, Michoacan Mexico on March 27 1920, his parents were Jose Maria Avalos and Maria Tijero.  

He had two sisters and 1 brother all from Mexico.  He married Maria Lopez in 1938, they were married 70 years.  She died two years ago.  They had 8 children, sons; Jose, Alfredo, Ramon, Jaime Avalos, all of Strathmore, daughters; Guadalupe Diaz, Maria Ochoa, both of Strathmore, Lourdes Fernandez of Dallas, Texas.
He was preceded in death by one daughter Aurora Avalos, who died at birth.

He was a long time farm worker.  He worked until the age of 78, picking oranges.  He had 35 grandchildren, 50 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren.

He will be missed deeply and remembered always by friends and family.

Visitation will be held Myers Chapel on Monday, November 16th from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM. 

A rosary service will be held at Myers Chapel on Monday, November 16th at 6:00 PM. 

A mass of Christian Burial will be held at St. Anne’s Church in Porterville on Tuesday, November 17th at 11:00 AM.  Interment will be held at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
