This 'n That
I can’t believe it’s already December and almost 2012!!! Where did the last year go? I know “time tlies” but this past year it was a jet.
Well I hope everyone feels sorry for me about my Indianapolis Colts. I had such high hopes for the Colts to be in the Super Bowl this year since it was being held in Indianapolis. And then Peyton got hurt and all you football fans know the rest. Well as all the losers say, “there’s always next year”.
I just had my 40 year class reunion in November. It was so much fun and seeing “old” classmates was such a hoot. Of course, I don’t look any older — just a whole lot “rounder”. Several of my classmates have weathered the years well, some are even married to the same person after all these years. We added new categories for prizes including “most recent retiree” and “most grandchildren”. I can say with confidence Monache Class of ’71 knows how to party!
I think 2012 may be the year I break down and buy a cell phone. I’ve decided it’s time and I know there has to be the right phone for me out there. Just a simple phone, nothing too fancy. Any ideas, let me know?
I am now a “Social Networker”. The Porterville Recorder and Freedom Communications are delving into all the different social media available and I and my colleagues are now on Facebook and Twitter. I must say Twitter is my favorite so far. I didn’t know there were so many clever people. Jay Cutler (the Chicago Bears quarterback) has a Twitter for his broken thumb!
I’ve always enjoyed Peter King of Sports Illustrated and now I like him even more — his “tweets” are hilarious. I talk too much (but you already knew that) and run out of space — if I could only master all the abbreviations! Check out The Recorder Facebook and Twitter sites. You can find some great deals and breaking news before it hits the paper. I can only hope that my “tweets” will bring you a chuckle or smile.
I hope you all survived Black Friday. Personally I save my shopping until closer to Christmas — it puts me in the Christmas Spirit of Giving to wait until the last minute. I love that frenzied energy you feel as you rush around trying to find the perfect gift. Just don’t get so caught up in the frenzy that you forget to remember the real reason for Christmas and count your blessings. Have a wonderful holiday season and God bless!
